I was a bit fed up that I couldn’t watch the previous US friendlies on catch up without seeing the score first so I stayed up late to watch it live.
And boy, am I glad I did.
My team played with an exuberance I haven’t seen from them since the early Nuno days. Champagne football indeed. One touch, progressive, inventive, confident. Football you dream about. Not for the whole 90, but enough to fill me with excitement for the upcoming season.
The new guys look great, especially Rodrigo Gomes, and the returning loanees all played like they want a place in this evolving team.
Finally, check out, if you haven’t already, the third goal. Tis a thing of rare beauty.
I’m heading to the Mol for the Rayo Valecano game. A golden chance to watch real footie without VAR. Perhaps a chance too to see Gary’s intended first eleven.
The future’s bright. The future is solid Gold.

Nice one, can’t stop up that late but managed to get a highlights stream this morning.
The third goal was indeed beautiful.
I hope we get another two Gomez so that we can have – Gomez to Gomez to Gomez to Gomez to Cunhna who scores.
Next season looks exciting, may try William Hill at 4/1 for a top 10 finish.
Maybe even a flutter on the first game of the season with Wolves at 11/1 to beat Arse.
P.S. Also going to Rayo Val and looking forward to the potential first team.
P.P.S. Also thought Wolves should have had a penalty at the end of the match.

Yes, lads this performance had me purring at times; some wonderful interplay and you could see how much application had gone into the preseason training; from the lads and training staff.
We can’t count our chickens yet until the transfer door closes, but one or two situations need to be sorted in our favour. The new boys are sound at the minimum; very impressed. Chiquinho and Mosquera must not on any account leave and do look happy to be playing in such an attacking formation, I believe. Seeing a proper leader of the line with deft and accurate touches and interplay to set up others took me back a few years to Raoul’s days of ability. It’s early days and I think we still need a couple of additions to add competition and/or experience leading the line or centrally at the back if we were greedy.
We look as though the big boys
are looking at our guys and one or two big sales may occur sadly imo… I too am looking forward to the match on Saturday excitedly from my usual seat in the Billy Wright Stand. I suspect the Guedes and Podence situations to be sorted at some point, and though both are good players they would be the ones I would prefer to leave over others despite their good showing. Certainly Podence seems to still wish to leave for European competition and, with a football life being so short, I don’t blame him.
I hopeand think this was a sign of things to come but Football is a funny game
as the great Jimmy Greaves used to say often…

I know football doesn’t really work like this, but we should only sell players we actually want to sell or who want to leave.
Otherwise, they all seem very happy to stay and should only leave for ridiculous money which no one will pay anyway.
Gary seems to have got something cooking here.I like how it smells and want to taste it through this coming season.

Didn’t see the match but I am really looking forward to the new season. It’s amazing how quickly those 3 months go mid May to mid August. First six games a big test. Glass half full. Maybe 7 points. Glass half empty 4 points. Wolves ay we!
