Pedro Neto to Chelsea for £54m; a good deal?

In the last hour, news of the above deal has come out. How do you feel about losing such a great player?
With his injuries over the past few seasons, have we, as a club, done well in the circumstances?
I, personally, think we have probably got a fair deal for such a talented player and could either, proved ourselves good judges, if his proneness to injury continues, or not, but it does put us into position to buy what we need to progress if Hobbs et al get it right as they have done before. We still have some good wide choices available and others may well join now. Pedro has been wonderful for us and will remain, like Neves and Moutinho, a legend in gold.
One more centre back with experience and a good back up for Larsen and things may look very promising.
Some may be understandably disappointed in losing such a great player and as always it is a gamble, and only time will tell if the decision was correct. Good luck, Pedro, all the best for the future and continue to grace the game except when playing against the Wolves…

It feels a bit like last season again. Wolves take the supporters money and at the last minute renege on all the promises. One week till the season starts and we have sold a key player with no obvious replacement to have a preseason to settle in.

My view is this. Wolves sailed close to the wind last season with the financial stuff. Got away with it. There is a definite correlation with the end of season form and no Neto BUT we missed him for 30/35% of the season ? I feel we have done well to get 54 million. I also think Gary will have done his planning without Neto. I also think there maybe a couple of more signings inbound. We. Will see. Good luck Neto. Hope your hamstring pops on 25 August !

When we were thinking about who we would lose to fund the necessary additions to the squad, Pedro was first on the list. So him leaving now surprises no-one.
Despite stellar performances last season, he spent many games watching from the treatment table. And frankly, as good as he is, and he is very good, we did manage surprisingly well without him.
We now have Rodrigo Gomes. And Chiquinho. And with £50 odd million squid to throw at the squad.
Good business? You bet it is.
I love Pedro, and will follow his career with interest. But, like Ruben Neves before him, selling became more beneficial than keeping.
Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.

I’m up from sunny Devon for the Rayo Valecano game. Anyone fancy a pre-match pint, I’ll be in the Combemere in Chapel Ash with a beer and a distinctive hat.
